Record Crowd attends Virginia Propane Gas Association Beach Meeting (7/25/2005)

More than 180 industry members and their families—a record crowd — attended the VAPGA summer meeting, held July 10-12 at the new Hilton Oceanfront in Virginia Beach. The VAPGA board of directors, which met July 12, voted 12-2 to return to the Hilton in 2006. The board acknowledged that the hotel, which opened in April, experienced some “growing pains,” but noted that overall, most members enjoyed the oceanfront location and the hotel’s facilities.

More than $9,000 was raised for the VAPGA Scholarship Fund during the meeting, with $5,875 coming from sponsorships of the Young Gassers Golf Tournament. An additional $3,250 was raised through the auction of University of Virginia and Virginia Tech football and basketball memorabilia and Tech football season tickets. Brian Atwood of A&B Propane, Ray Atkins of Atkins Propane, Bill Bigham of Kinetic Resources, Mike Bostic of Red Flame Oil & Propane, Jim Hitzemann of Ray Murray; and Revere Gas & Appliance’s Sally Gayle Revere made winning bids.
